On Australian Shores: Trevor Lockyer

Magali and I often sit together and lament as to how apathetic Australian's have become in this day and age, so connected up with technology but less and less 'connected' soulfully.

So it is with great sadness that this week we travelled to meet Trevor Lockyer and his courageous carer, Peter. It is often said that the most amazing people are those who care for others selflessly and in doing so change the world for the better around them. 

This post is about Peter who I had a quick yarn with outside his unit in Perth, Western Australia. We chit-chatted about Australian politics, the weather and the football and then the conversation rested on Peter's empathy and care for Trevor.

"...I am with him all the way mate...I'm there to make sure he has a good day...the best thing is in knowing his story is out and that everyone will know what a great man he is" said Peter.

The many tributes that have flowed in on the comments thread in our Ngikalikarra Media Facebook post is testament to the great man that Trevor is. The most important thing that we can do is collectively share Trevor's story and demand justice, recompense and most of as Peter said "...recognition in writing that the Government knew about it."

So, Magali and I want to pay tribute to Peter Brooking Jr. who is caring for Trevor at this difficult time. Peter needs to be commended and recognised along with everyone who has made Trevor's life just that little bit more bearable in this time of need.

This is what the 'On Australian Shores: Survivor Stories' is about...bringing voice to the world about what so many people have suffered at the hands of a greedy and self serving Australian government, coverups, legal wrangling....whilst survivors and innocent families continue to live despite the catastrophic effects of this brutal legacy.

What is important is that Trevor's story is shared and that Peter is given the recognition as so many other people deserve and have been denied.
